Carbon Budgets

A lot of the recent work on carbon budgets is very much to be welcomed. Budgets are far firmer than a stabilisation level, which allows politicians to muddy the waters by blurring the line between concentrations and emissions.

However, we know that within our emissions budget there will be some non-negotiables, emisisons that we have to emit or indeed have already emitted if the budget is 2000-2050.

This simple graphic aims to illustrate the 3 types you must remove before you get a usable carbon budget.
